I Cavalieri del Re is an Italian band best-known for performing their animated cartoons' hit themes. In 1981, they widely became famous with their lead song, La Spada di King Arthur. Following the success of that song, RCA signed the group to a record contract, leading them to produce and release new songs.
Over the years, they produced more than 40 legendary and iconic theme songs, leaving a lasting impression on Italian culture with unforgettable song such as L’uomo Tigre, Lady Oscar, Kimba il Leone bianco, Sasuke, Lo specchio magico, Yattaman, Calendar Men, Gigi la trottola, Devilman, Ransie la Strega, Il libro Cuore and many others.
One of the group’s defining features is that it is a family ensemble. The group consists of Riccardo Zara, his wife Clara Maria Teresa Serina, his son Jonathan Samuel Zara and Guiomar Serena Serina, sister of Clara.
Having their own recording studio, Cascina 3F Recording Studio, they are able to make their music entirely independently, writing lyrics, composing the music, and arrangements.
They also release several albums outside of the world of cartoon theme songs. In addition to the release of their first- greatest LP – which includes I Cavalieri del Re and La storia di Lady Oscar songs – they also produced a Christmas-themed album (Christmas Dance), a collection of unreleased songs (Album di Famiglia), and a reinterpretation of their biggest hit of Fab Tour (C’erano una volta I Beatles).
The harmonies of the choir and the vocal blend have become a distinguishing mark the group during the years.
In the last twenty-years, as comic conventions and nostalgia-themed events have increased, I Cavalieri del Re returned to perform on stage with their unforgettable and remarkable musical repertoire, widely earning a great success.
