Born in Fuchu, Tokyo. She began her career as a manga artist in 2016, in the pages of Weekly Shonen Champion, by the Japanese publisher Akita Shoten. Her first long-running series, BEASTARS, was a huge hit with both the public and critics, winning numerous awards, including the New Face Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival, the prestigious Manga Taisho, the New Creator Prize at the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize, and the Kodansha Award for Best Shonen Manga of 2018. This work was also adapted into a successful animated series, produced by Orange Animation.
Her subsequent series, SANDA, published between 2021 and 2024, was adapted into an anime by the studio Science Saru.
Her new manga, entitled TAIKA NO RISEI, is currently being serialised, whilst she continues to publish new episodes of BEAST COMPLEX; both are published in Japan by Akita Shoten. Other notable titles in her oeuvre include BOTA BOTA, PARNO GRAFFITI and USHIMITSUGAO. In Italy, her works are published under the Planet Manga imprint by Panini Comics.
