
Corrado Mastantuono is one of Italy’s most acclaimed comic book authors, capable of moving with great versatility between animation, humour, adventure and fantasy. Born in Rome in 1962, he studied at the National Institute for Cinematography and Television, beginning his professional career in the world of animation before moving into comics in 1990.
In the same year, he began his long-standing collaboration with Disney, working on the pages of Mickey Mouse and on numerous series featuring characters from Duckburg and Mouseton. In 1997, he created the famous character Boomer Buff, who quickly won the hearts of readers. At the same time, he developed a significant career in adventure comics, collaborating with Sergio Bonelli Editore on titles such as Nick Raider, Magic Wind, Deadwood Dick and Tex, for which he created stories and covers that have become benchmarks for fans.
A versatile artist, who also writes scripts and works on personal projects, Mastantuono is recognised for his energetic style, the extraordinary expressiveness of his characters and a panel layout with a strong narrative impact. His style combines dynamism, humour and attention to detail – qualities that have enabled him to tackle a wide variety of genres and narrative worlds.
For Mirage Comics, he has created the cover for Chronicles of Arda: The Dwarves’ Mines, a new chapter in the Chronicles of Arda fantasy universe. Through his illustration, he lends strength and character to the world of the dwarves, capturing the epic and adventurous atmosphere of the saga in an image brimming with charm and evocative power.
