A distinguished international guest, Chris Riddell is one of the leading contemporary authors and illustrators for children and adults. The author, appearing in collaboration with the publishing house Il Castoro, will be at the centre of panel discussions, workshops, showcases and book signings throughout the festival, and will also be hosting a special event for schools, which sold out after just one week: Let’s Invent Fantastic Worlds Together!, a drawing and storytelling workshop organised as part of Lucca Junior, at the Family Palace (Thursday 29 October, 10.30 am, Real Collegio).
During the session, Chris Riddell will guide the children in discovering how a character is created and how, through drawing and imagination, a story can take shape. Starting with his own original deck of illustrated cards, the author will draw live and involve participants in creating new characters, places and fantastical worlds, encouraging them to develop their own ideas through drawing and free storytelling. The workshop will conclude with a chance to share the work produced and a question-and-answer session with the author, offering the children the opportunity to interact directly with Chris Riddell and learn more about his work as an illustrator and storyteller, renowned worldwide for his creations.
