Rai Cultura is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Lucca Comics & Games with 60 volte Lucca: L’avventura storia di Lucca Comics & Games, a special programme written and directed by Enrico Platania that traces the long history of the event, the world’s oldest festival dedicated to comics and pop culture.
A narrative woven from memories, through the testimonies of those currently involved in organising the event and valuable contributions from Rai Teche. From the birth of the International Comics Fair in 1966 to its transformation into an event that weaves together comics, animation, illustration and gaming, the special chronicles the evolution of Lucca and its audience.
A journey that reflects the profound changes in Italian and international cultural imagination, and which has seen the event anticipate and accompany the transformations of the publishing and entertainment industries. Delving into the history of a major event is the best way to understand its complexity in the present.
The documentary will be broadcast on Rai5 on Tuesday 27 October in the late evening, on the eve of the event’s opening, and will then be available immediately on RaiPlay.
