There are less than two weeks to go until the start of Lucca Comics & Games: five days of talks, screenings, parades, challenges, tournaments, book signings, meet-and-greets, exhibitions… over a thousand events on the programme, all accessible with your ticket and wristband. Some events take place in venues with limited capacity; consequently, around twenty of these will be accessible by booking only.
For this year’s event, Lucca Comics & Games has developed a new system via the LuccaCG Assistant app (which also works offline), within which the ‘Bookings’ section will be available from today.
There are three types of events that can be booked:
book signings organised by Lucca Comics & Games at the Paladediche;
shows and meetings, i.e. selected events taking place in the Lucca Comics & Games meeting rooms: talks, concerts and screenings (always listed on the website and in the app);
guided tours of exhibitions organised by Lucca Comics & Games, attended by the artist or curator.
All events requiring booking will be listed in the app, through which you can also enable notifications and stay updated in real time on all the latest news; so it’s no longer just a guide, but a genuine tool for participation.
How it works
Bookings will not be made automatically; for each event, a time window will be specified within which you can request a place. There’s no need to rush, the allocation criteria for this new system do not give priority to the first person to click, so speed won’t matter. Based on our experience, a new algorithm has been developed for allocating places, which will take four factors into account: the number of places requested; the number of current requests; the number of places already secured; and whether the applicant has already secured a place for an event featuring the same author.
For further details, visit this page.
Those who secure a place will receive a notification via the LuccaCG Assistant app and a QR code required for entry (along with a valid ticket and wristband for the chosen event day). The QR codes are protected; they will therefore be ‘unlocked’ on the day and at the time indicated in the app, thereby making them valid.
Before attending the shows and meet-and-greets, you will need to collect a voucher from the Tourist Information Point in Piazzale Verdi (directions and details are available in the app, including information on timed entry slots).
‘COMMUNITY’ is one of the five core values of Lucca Comics & Games, which is why you will also be able to give up your place and allow others to take part.
Waiting lists will be in place for book signings and guided tours, but not for shows and talks. Waiting lists will also open during a pre-announced time slot.
On the day and at the time of the book signings and guided tours, you will therefore only need three things: your QR code, your Lucca Comics & Games ticket valid for that day, and your wristband, which is also valid on the day of the event.
