The panel draws parallels between Joe’s recent book Bloodlines, in which he recounts the years marked by his autoimmune disease, and the Death Saves project, starting with the very meaning of the title: the D&D saving throws that a dying character must make in order to survive. The account of his personal journey, marked by a long battle for his health and a series of ‘rolls of the dice’ that seemed to be working against him, thus intertwines with the universe of Death Saves, a world in which characters must continue to fight to survive even when all hope seems lost.
